Ball State University's Department of Theatre and Dance is a program of choice for the serious undergraduate theatre and dance student. Our nationally recognized degree programs provide pre-professional training in a liberal arts setting, preparing talented students for professional careers or graduate study.
Our degrees are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre and National Association of Schools of Dance.
We offer bachelor's degrees in the following areas:
Departmental Major in Theatre B.A./B.S. (56-69 hours)
Departmental Major in Theatre B.F.A. (85 hours)
Departmental Major in Dance B.A./B.S. (63 hours)
Theatre Options:
Our theatre major features options in acting, musical theatre, design and technology, production (directing and stage management), theatrical studies, and theatre education as well as a design and technology minor. The Dance program offers major and minor options. The acting and musical theatre options are open by audition only. Our theatrical studies option covers many areas of theatre and is recommended for students seeking careers in playwriting, theatre management, or theatre history.
Performance Opportunities:
In addition to intensive classroom instruction, our students gain valuable practical experience through an active and diverse production program. Performances range from classical to contemporary, comedy to tragedy, and musicals to operas. Our acting showcases in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago also allow acting and musical theatre graduates to audition for professionals in the industry.
