The Acting Program At...
Indiana State

The undergraduate program in the Department of Theater provides students with a broad and solid foundation in the artistic, intellectual, and practical aspects of theater. Led by a dynamic, deeply committed, and professionally active and accomplished faculty, the department fosters a positive working environment--inside and outside the classroom, onstage and off--that is serious, focused, and nurturing.
On campus, it encourages students to collaborate, experiment, and take initiative in the development of new work, whether it be new student-written plays, multimedia performances, or imaginative and unique interpretations of established plays. Beyond the campus, the Department is committed to expanding the reach of our theater to bring bold productions and workshops to special populations in the Terre Haute community as well as to a broader national and international audience.
Our goal is to provide our students with a rich and diverse artistic, cultural, and academic environment in which the ISU theater education is inextricably linked to the university's vibrant liberal arts tradition, challenging our students to grow as thinkers, as artists, and as engaged citizens in the larger community, serving the public good.
