Department of Theatre offers a broad educational foundation in the art and craft of producing and managing theatre. Areas of concentration include Performance, Design, Technical Theatre, Playwriting, Dramaturgy, and Vocal Arts.

USM Theatre students have earned regional and national recognition through the American College Theatre Festival.  The Department has traveled to the Kennedy Center on four occasions and captured national awards in performance, design, playwriting, and forensics.
