Clemson University

Theatre at Clemson University was started in 1964 when a group of students interested in producing dramatic works on stage formed the Clemson Players. Today, this student production organization, co-sponsors the annual season of plays at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. The Clemson Players typically produces four fully-mounted productions in the nine-month academic year, and several student directed shows throughthe honorary organization Alpha Psi Omega. During the summer months, the players help to host the New Plays Premiere Workshop, where original student plays receive script in hand readings and critiques by nationally recognized playwrights and respondents.
Clemson University theatre productions are designed and directed by faculty, guest artists, and often the students themselves. They are comprised of Production Studies students concentrating in theatre, students enrolled in theatre classes, members of the university community, and community volunteers.
You don't have to be a Clemson Player to perform in main stage productions, nor do you even need to be a Clemson student. Students, staff, faculty and the Clemson community all participate in theatre productions, from writing to design, from acting to directing.
Intense and diverse, the Clemson theatre program is an exciting combination of performance, production, Design, and academics. The Clemson Players, the student theatre organization, co-sponsors an annual season of plays with productions designed and directed by faculty, guest artists, community members, theatre majors and Clemson students.
