The Acting Program At...
USC Upstate

An assortment of opportunities and experiences are made available in the USC Upstate theatre program. Practice and learn theatre arts first hand by playing a role in a campus production, designing scenery for a play, directing, playwriting, or studying the history and literature of modern and classic theatre. Bodies and voices are developed to the maximum potential by participating in a variety of traditional and experimental dramatic exercises. Theatre students learn production and performance skills that enrich their lives and prepare them for careers in professional, educational, or community theatre.
Collaboration With The Rose Theatre
Through special arrangement with the new Rose Theatre in Kingston Upon Thames, London, England, the University of South Carolina Upstate is proud to announce a formal internship agreement for Theatre students. USC Upstate is the only college or university in the world to have such an arrangement with the new Rose Theatre. Recently the New Rose Theatre featured Dame Judi Dench in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and hosted Peter Brook’s production of 11 and 12 in April and May. Peter Brook is one of the most prominent directors of Shakespeare in the modern era. This is a tremendous honor for the University and for the Shoestring Players.
