Union University Players
The theatre program produces four major plays each year, featuring a wide variety of genres and eras in theatre. In the past few years, the Union University Players have produced Shakespeare’s The Tempest, Arsenic and Old Lace, Proof, J.B., The Spitfire Grill, Tartuffe, and Shadowlands. The Union University Players also produce an annual children’s play for local school children.
Tennessee Theatre Association
Union theatre majors attend the annual conference of the Tennessee Theatre Association, often presenting one of the year’s plays in competition and auditioning for the a slot at SETC.
Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC)
The Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) is the largest and most active regional theatre organization in the country, and Union students attend their annual conference in Atlanta, networking, attending sessions, and auditioning for productions around the nation.
Theatre Student Teaching
Theatre students interested in teaching Theatre at the high school level can earn their teacher licensure while completing their degree at Union. Before graduation, students have an opportunity to work in a local high school with their Theatre program, gaining valuable experience before beginning their career.
