Welcome to the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance. The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance is a successful, dynamic, and respected undergraduate training program dedicated to developing some of the brightest and best theatre and dance artists and educators of tomorrow. Faculty, who regularly perform, design, choreograph, and direct on a national and international level, pride themselves in creating deeply-personalized learning experiences and are dedicated to the development and future success of all our students.

A student’s classroom encompasses the studio, the stage and the production laboratory. Alongside elaborate productions on the main stage, are the quality programs that are produced by our student organizations. Undergraduate students have ample opportunities to choreograph, design, create, perform, and have their work reviewed on regional and national levels.

Theatre Arts & Dance offers two types of degrees; one, a (BA or BS) liberal arts degree that focuses on theatre or dance in the context of a broad course of general studies; and two, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre degree, with emphases in Classical Acting, Musical Theatre, and Theatre Design & Technology. The BFA is a pre-professional degree designed to prepare students for professional careers and graduate studies in Theatre.

The mission of the department of theatre arts and dance is to provide a nurturing and challenging educational environment which celebrates our history, propels us towards our future, and excels in practical application of theatrical and dance techniques. A rich diversity of theatrical disciplines, dance techniques and technologies combine with an ever-changing array of production opportunities and personalized mentoring by our entire faculty and staff. Central to our focus as a department is superior teaching; our classroom encompasses the studio, the stage, and the technical laboratory.
